According to Integral philosopher Ken Wilber, there are 3 expressions of your relationship to the Divine.
First person – I – Personal experience
Second person – WE – Relational
Third person – IT – Subtle, non personal
Your relationship with the Divine starts when you recognize and hold yourself accountable to all that happens as an opportunity to unwind the reactivity held in the first five chakras. This is where the devotee commits to a daily practice.
When this process of unwinding creates a certain harmonic, it opens the portal of the heart. The divine is now experienced in relationship to the other. It’s Bhakti yoga, and could be experienced in relationship to a teacher, lover, Guru, or a saint. This is where the devotee moves from the realm of me to the realm of we.
With the portal of the heart opened we have access to the subtle, impersonal realms. This is where the devotee becomes a light house for others.
This is not a linear or a scary process! It takes the flexibility and devotion of a yogi to not lock into any one of these expressions as the best way. Each one of these expressions is needed at different times for your deepening into the Divine, it is the journey of the rising kundalini force.
