My parents were raised during the second world war in the Netherlands. The children would chew on leather shoe soles to keep their stomachs from feeling the pains of hunger.

We each carry some form of generational trauma in our DNA, and therefore we each stand at a powerful cross roads by how we respond or react to life’s challenges.  One perpetuates the trauma, the other integrates it for 7 generations past and 7 generations into the future.

For me the opportunity for generational healing is to change my relationship to anger. To use it as my guide to determine my innermost needs, values and priorities.  To stop reacting with anger and instead to use anger in the service of change.

The way to change the world is to change yourself. I’ve heard this a million times yet when the opportunity comes knocking on my door I always think its for someone else. Until I let myself sit in it, which strangely enough is the process of integration. To sit beyond the fluctuations of my mind is how I reawaken in grace.
